The vineyards used for the Offerus project are located in the original St Joseph AOC communities of Mauves, Tournon, St. Jean de Muzols and Lemps. These vineyard sites express tightly wound tannins, spice, and power. They exhibit structure and depth which complete the harmony of Offerus. Thesesoils produce wines that are elegant with incredible purity, definition, and focus. Offerus has evolved since its first vintage in 1995. In the beginning, the wines were purchased from high quality/small quantity St Joseph producers. Since the mid 1990’s, the Domaine has been purchasing and replanting parcels of steep hillside Saint Joseph. As the Domaine only uses old vines (20+ year vine age) for its wines, the grapes from these young vines are destined for the Offerus project. A quality control which proves extremely beneficial to the Offerus project. Currently, over 95% of the wines for Offerus come from these organically grown young vines owned by Domaine Jean-Louis Chave which sells the juice to JL Chave Selection for elevage in oak barrels for a period of about 18 months before being bottled.
