Pietradolce Vigna Barbagalli Rosso Etna Italy, 2016, 750
One of the best wines being made in Sicily, Pietrodolce was founded in 2005 in Solicchiata on the Northern slopes of Etna.
Made of 100% Nerello Mascalese a very traditional varietal in the region, from Pre-phylloxera bush trained vines of 80-100 years old, grown at an elevation of 950m.
Grapes are picked by hand, gently pressed and Macerate on the skins for 18 days in concrete tanks.
The wine is then put into French oak tonneaux for 20 months and go through malolactic fermentation.
Notes of red berries, heady floral perfume, cinnamon, vanilla, smoke, minerals and leather with the hints of tobacco. High acidity with a long even finish medium to medium full body.
This wine has a drinking window starting now and stretching out about 10 years.

"A very pretty red with berry, cherry and floral character. Some chalk, too. Medium body, firm and lightly chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. From ancient vines. Drink or hold."
