"The 2020 Meursault Goutte d'Or 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with fine delineation, orange pith and apricot, hazelnut with a touch of flint. The palate is beautifully balanced with insistent grip on the entry, more saline than the Bouchères, fine delineation with great precision on the finish. Very...complete."

"Our plump and peachy friend, never quite seems to have the finesse on the first nose, but shows its class later on. There is more depth and body than the Bouchères, a little lemon scent, a weight of deep white fruit, even some fresh apples, and attractive little points of nuanced acidity. Overall, really well balanced and very persistent."

The wine shows aromas of ripe apple and quince, with elements of chamomile and grapefruit. It shows definite presence on the palate, with rich extract and notable persistence on the finish. Lafon's Gouttes d'Or are located on 0.4ha a bit lower on the slope in somewhat heavier clay soils. This brings a richness to the wine that many will find very appropriate in this appellation.
