Staglin Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa, 2012, 750
The Wine Advocate - "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate may turn out to be one of the finest examples of this cuvee yet made. Already exhibiting complex notes of forest floor, spring flowers, loamy soil and abundant black currant, black raspberry, licorice and charcoal notes, this full-bodied, opulent 2012 shows no hard edges. It should turn out to be spectacular. Both of these 2012s will drink exceptionally well young and last for two decades or more."
James Suckling - "This is very sexy and seductive with blackberry and dark chocolate character. Full and polished. Fine tannins that go on for minutes. Loving this. Drink or hold."
Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "Freshly cut flowers, spices, mocha, red plums, spice cake and new leather meld together in Staglin's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. Radiant and supple throughout, the 2012 captures the personality of the year in spades. Sweet red berries, mint and flowers add nuance on the creamy, textured finish. The 2012 will drink well pretty much right out of the gate, but I would give it at least a few years in bottle, as the oak is a bit prominent at this stage."
Wine Spectator - "Rich and harmonious, with a supple center of mocha, dark berry, blueberry, cedar and crushed rock. The plush texture provides just the right amount of tannic traction. Drink now through 2028."
