  • Size: 0.36 ha (0.89 ac)
  • Variety: Chardonnay
  • Terroir: Gentle slope, facing southeast, 240-250-meters altitude, with well-draining, rocky, brown soil of limestone, clay, and silt
  • Viticulture: Certified organic (biodynamic practices)
  • Vinification: Delicate pneumatic pressing, indigenous yeast and malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months on fine lees in 228L oak barrels (80% new).

After Chevalier-Montrachet and Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet is the third most famous Grand Cru to bear the name Montrachet and is a major actor in the propagation of Chardonnay around the world. Over time, this once uncultivated hill (Montrachet means 'barren mount' in French) has become a mythical place for lovers of great white wines.

This parcel is in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. The nearly 12 hectares of Bâtard-Montrachet vineyards lie at the foot of the "Montrachet", just the other side of the road between Puligny and Chassagne.

Only 200 cases are made each year.
